Blogworthy

Many many updates on family and friends. For starts, today is Matt's 35th birthday. We celebrated with thai food and chocolate cake--a good excuse to overindulge! 35 doesn't sound old in and of itself, but when I noted that we're only 15 years away from the big 5-0, that put things in perspective!

Also, good news from California. Our great friends Hunt and Cory had a little baby yesterday...a BOY!! Hunt, as usual, had a delightful and easy birth at home. She has some great birthing-karma and we're all pleased to hear that he's here safe and sound. Big sis Bella was there for the whole thing and was the first to announce it was a boy. Such a special occasion for them all.

The girls are doing awesome. Growing tons and keeping us in stitches. Willow definitely shows her serious side, always doing "work." Putting her in a multi-age preschool setting has been great for her, but it definitely brings out the first-born/ambitious side to her. She is determined to write and is constantly hovered over a piece of paper, sounding out words. Today she wrote "Estr da Willow Mome Dade Atum" (Easter Day, in case you couldn't tell!). We love that she's curious and driven, I just hope she remains relaxed and silly as well.

She was also very focused at her school performance. During one song, the threes played pretend piano while the fours played drums. Despite the fact that she had not only MADE the piano, but had only practiced the song as a piano player, the show fell on her birthday and, well, as of that day, she was a FOUR year old. Ok, makes sense, except that there was no drum for her. This didn't stop Willow, though. She just played a little AIR DRUM during the song. I kid you not! Heaven forbid she has to sit with the THREE year olds!

Autumn is absolutely hysterical. She talks a lot more and is very animated. She has a series of words that she goes through for various occasions. For instance:

Mommy: Do you want cereal?

Autumn: Reeree

Mommy: Ok, cereal

Autumn: Mil

Mommy: With milk

Autumn: Bo

Mommy: Yes, in a bowl

Autumn: Spoo

Mommy: With a spoon

100% of the time! She has others like for her mommy and me class the string of words consist of Ms. Martha, ball, babies, sticker. It's funny to see her make sense of her world. Yesterday, she found a crayon in the car and proceeded to color on her cabbage patch baby (her PRIZED possession). I was driving and didn't see her do this. I heard a chuckle come from the back and wondered what she was up to. Pretty soon, however, that chuckle began to melt into a whimper, then a full on complaint when she realized what she had done and that baby looked like a freaky mess! I could not help but laugh out loud. When we got to the store, I used a baby wipe to try to get it off of baby's head. When she was all cleaned up, Autumn pointed to baby's belly button in desperation. Of course, cabbage patch kids' belly buttons are made of material and crayon is not wiping off of it any time soon. Oh, well. Lesson learned I guess!
