Pay Day

Yesterday our friends Mona and Tricia came over to play. The girls went upstairs to play castle and princesses, and Tricia and I sipped tea and chatted while she continued knitting her roll neck sweater. It dawned on me...I've MADE it!!

It was the first time I really kicked back and enjoyed my friend's company with very little concern or interruption. All those years of divided attention, boundless devotion, and disjointed conversations have culminated to this--one of the many (and one of the biggest) payoffs for staying at home.

Lately, I've noticed things a bit easier all around. The long days of difficulties and frustrations seem to have diminished to moments. My children are more independent, full of more personality, and play together so well now that they are older. I can sense my overall enjoyment of mothering growing by leaps and bounds. Yes, I still have hair-pulling urges, but I'm better able to refill the well when I can get just a moment of space.

I stumbled on the girls playing in the dress-up basket.

Just an angle showing the work the girls put into making the basket their ship!

Autumn reading to Willow while she eats a snack.

This is the elephant!
