Getting out the decorations.
After much debate, we decided on a real tree. In Portland, they had a service where they brought a tree with the root-ball to your house, picked it up after Christmas and planted it! No such luck here, though. There is a recycling program here where the trees are turned into mulch and used in all the city parks. This tipped the scales in favor of a real tree for us. It saves tax money and recycles the tree.
We didn't put out wrapped gifts until Christmas Eve--specifically because we felt it would torture Willow and lead, perhaps, to her succumbing to the impulse to unwrap everything. This is Willow at my mom's house. It may be hard to see but she is pulling all the presents out, organizing them, making piles and then putting them all back under--all the while shaking them. She did this numerous times.
